School Choice

Important Information on the Interdistrict Public School Choice Program

The Interdistrict Public School Choice Program allows students to transfer from their residential district to another district which has been designated a “choice” district.

To be eligible to participate, a district must apply to the State Department of Education.  Once the application is approved, the district will be able to take in transfer students from other districts in New Jersey.  The Franklin Township Public School District is not a “choice” district under this program.

Even though Franklin Township Public School District is not participating in the Interdistrict Public School Choice Program, the students in the Franklin Township Public School District are eligible to apply to transfer to other “choice” districts

If a student is interested in transferring from Franklin Township Public School District to a “choice” district, they must follow the procedures posted on the New Jersey Department of Education website.

The Department of Education site includes the timeline for applications as well as a list of participating school choice districts for the 2023-'24 school year.

If you have any questions, please refer to the Department of Education Website or call Mary Clark, at the District Office (732) 873-2400 Ext. 206.
