The vision of the Franklin Township Social Studies program is to develop politically aware, culturally sensitive, and ethical citizens.  We believe that the social studies carries the responsibility of teaching our young people how to look beyond themselves to a larger world, to analyze issues and concerns that affect all humankind, and to take a stand for human rights.

From Kindergarten through the twelfth grade, students in the Franklin Township school district are exposed to the study of histories of both the United States and the world.  As students progress through the sequence of courses they are exposed to a variety of perspectives that allows them to understand how people, the environment, economics, and political and social structures impact on each other, bringing change and often conflict, to a region or a people.

The Related Arts program begins with computer lab classes in the elementary schools and then incorporates family and consumer science classes, business, and advanced technology as it progresses through the secondary level.  These practical arts courses are driven by the need to prepare our students for the 21st century by teaching skills that can be used both personally and professionally.

Students enrolled in our computer animation/web design sequence acquire the necessary skills to seek gainful employment upon graduation.  Students in our family and consumer science program often enter the world of textile design or professional food preparation after graduation.  Those students who have taken the sequence of materials design, architectural design, and design technology leave the program with the essential skills to enter the world of carpentry, advanced architectural studies, and other related professions.
