Dear Pine Grove Manor School Community,

My name is Genesi Miles and I would like to formally introduce myself as your new Principal at Pine Grove Manor Elementary School.

I am elated to join the PGM team and to work with a dynamic group of caring adults. I am very much familiar with elementary education and know that with our shared strengths, we will be able to support our students in a meaningful and effective way.

I cannot wait to get to know each of you and our wonderful students at PGM. In the meantime, here is some background information on me: I am a first generation college student, born and raised in Jersey City. I proudly earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Rutgers University, and subsequently my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers.

Soon thereafter, I began my work in education as a literacy Interventionist in New Brunswick Public Schools for 2 years. My love for reading and teaching literacy foundational skills translated into a role as a first grade teacher for over five years in a community that has similarities to Franklin. During my tenure in New Brunswick, I had opportunities to re-write Social Studies curriculum, create a Balanced Literacy Protocol, and leverage community partnerships to organize and supervise an afterschool program in conjunction with Rutgers University. While teaching (and juggling 3 children!) I went back to school to earn my Supervisor and Principal Certificate through the NJEXCEL Program. My internships provided me with the opportunity to connect with the larger community and organize building-wide events on a regular basis. This directly influenced my pursuit of administration as I saw how my voice, tenacity, and relatability created impact on the needs of the general student body.

I have proudly had the opportunity to serve as the Vice Principal at Hillcrest Elementary School and the Road to Success Alternative Program from January 2020-July 2021. Leading in this capacity has developed my program building skills which has afforded my students opportunities to deepen and vary their academic, social, and emotional aptitude. I currently serve as the Class of 2025 Vice Principal at Franklin High School since August 2021. This has been a very versatile experience that has helped me develop further as a building leader by working with dedicated professionals that put students first.
