Everyone who lives in the U.S. has legal rights, regardless of immigration status.

You have the right to remain silent. You may refuse to speak to immigration officers.
Do not open the door.
If you are approached by authorities in a public place/on the street:
If authorities pull you over in the car.
If you are arrested or detained, do not physically resist or fight back. Do not lie or show false documents.
You have the right to speak to a lawyer.
Do not sign anything without speaking to a lawyer.
Always carry with you any valid immigration documents you have.
Have an Emergency Plan.
If you need a lawyer.

Red Cards From the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC)
The ILRC’s Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home.
The ILRC website has more information on how to use these cards which are available in many languages, such as Arabic, Haitian Creole; Spanish and others.
