Preschool - Early Childhood Education

Our PreK classrooms are located throughout the seven elementary schools.  Additional classrooms are also located in the HOPES Hamilton Center, Little Honors, Little Genius Planet, as well as one PreK classroom which is housed at Franklin High School as part of their Early Childhood Development Lab.

This free, full-day program uses the HighScope Curriculum to help students build important academic and social skills. This approach uses a carefully designed process — called "active participatory learning" — to achieve powerful positive outcomes. The HighScope Preschool Curriculum not only helps young children excel in language and cognitive learning but also promotes independence, curiosity, decision-making, cooperation, persistence, creativity, and problem-solving — the fundamental skills that help determine success in adult life.

Each classroom here in Franklin Township has one certified teacher and one paraprofessional who serve no more than 15 students. Each class is integrated with special education students and Dual Language Learners to provide an inclusive environment for all students.

The preschool daily schedule includes time for breakfast, morning meeting, small group instruction, structured play (Plan-Do-Review cycle), gross motor play, lunch, rest, and snack. Students attend specials in their schools, such as library, physical education, music, and art.
